We all get hammered. At some point, life kicks the breath out of each of us. The wounds might look and feel differently throughout the years, but we all get continuously challenged to be resilient. Do you have the tendency to meet those challenges in your life with defeat or resilience? Stop dodging the lessons that'll change you and find the willpower to alter your mindset. Commit to remembering that it's always possible to land on both feet.
Hemmingway once suggested that the world breaks everyone and afterward many are stronger at the broken places.
At times, we all feel broken but that's how the light gets in and growth and change are possible. Learn to turn towards your unique cracks of light and get curious about the confidence that lies within you. Do you see what's possible? I invite you to write down and describe the part of you that you've decided is most broken. Then, consider whether that part of you is actually the strongest part of you. Try to remember that your thoughts aren't necessarily right or true. Feelings change when our thoughts change.
What if we stopped being surprised by difficult challenges? Would we handle pain differently if it seemed less personal and we remembered it's part of the human condition?
Pain isn't personal and life isn't singling us out. I try to think of pain as a collective journey that's easier when we consider that everyone around us is trying to overcome some struggle. If we realize that being human is about joy and pain, I believe we look harder for the joy. Live your life knowing that pain heals and joy is on the other side of pain if you're actively looking for it. Keep looking!
